Litochoro Litochoro is a small town in the prefecture of Pieria in Greece. This town is built against the background of Mount Olympus and is located 24 kilometers (15 mi) from the capital of Pieria, Katerini. Litochoro is five kilometers (3 mi) away from the sea and has always been a summer residence for many. It is also a starting point for mountaineers heading for mythical Olympus and visit to the national protected area of Olympus. The town itself is very popular, especially among Greek tourists. There are plenty of accommodations for rent, hotels and a campsite. East of Litochoro, five kilometers (3 mi) away, is the Plaka beach (a Blue Flag beach) and the beach of Kalivia Varikou.

Places to visit include the park Katounia, the ethnological museum, the naval museum, the monastery Moni Agiou Dionissiou at a distance of 18 kilometers (11 mi). This monastery was built between the two small branches of the river Enipeas. Twenty-two kilometers (13.6 mi) from Litochoro is the refuge Spilios Agapitos, a magnificent stone hostel serving hikers.
