Komotini. Komotini is the capital of the department of Rodopi, in north-eastern Greece. Komotini is located 250 kilometers (155 miles) east of Thessaloniki and 93 kilometers (58 miles) from the city of Kavala.
In Komotini there's an Archaeological Museum, with archaeological finds of exceptional historic value and beauty such as the golden bust of Septimios Seviros and the mask of Dionysos from the Maronia temple. Also of great interest to visitors are the Byzantine wall, the Cathedral of the Holy Mother, the Geni Mosque, the Eski Mosque and the folk art museum.
